		<description>An exercise in taking an existing form of written word (whether transcript, lyrics, or literature, etc.) and type-setting it in the form of a typographic poster, fit for use on a large-scale bus shelter advert space, as seen in situ here.

&#60;img src="http://payload8.cargocollective.com/1/0/19504/2472578/Bus Shelter x 2_700.jpg" border="0" width="700" height="466" width_o="2048" height_o="1365" src_o="http://payload8.cargocollective.com/1/0/19504/2472578/Bus Shelter x 2_o.jpg" align="left" /&#62;

One of the texts were Patrick Wolf song lyrics from The Childcatcher, depicting the tale of a young boy's unfortunate encounter.

&#60;img src="http://payload8.cargocollective.com/1/0/19504/2472578/child.jpg" border="0" width="486" height="700" width_o="486" height_o="700" src_o="http://payload8.cargocollective.com/1/0/19504/2472578/child_o.jpg" align="left" /&#62; &#60;img src="http://payload8.cargocollective.com/1/0/19504/2472578/child_small.jpg" border="0" width="486" height="324" width_o="486" height_o="324" src_o="http://payload8.cargocollective.com/1/0/19504/2472578/child_small_o.jpg" align="left" /&#62;

Another was taken from the transcript of an episode of Peep Show, featuring an embarrassing scenario between two characters, Mark and Natalie.

An information design poster, working on a macro and micro level, visualising each of my established social relationships.

Fifteen parameters were considered and applied with the aid of colour, type and icon variation, and resulting in the above A0 poster. The legend successfully ties the elements together as a whole and enables the infographic to be analysed in detail. Whether reading as a whole, or selecting separate relationships, a social narrative becomes clear.

Photography conceived especially for, and exhibited at, Nokia World 2011. In collaboration with Cynthia Chen Barbachano, we worked towards the simple brief, Adventure Everyday:

Our photographic pieces are a critique on that which we have grown accustomed to, in how sandwich bars and fast-paced coffee outlet have become integrated into the fabric of our everyday lives, especially in the eyes of a Londoner trying to get their daily corporate fix. We have therefore collected these mundane items of refuse and created extraordinary, extraterrestrial scenarios around them, in the hope to draw attention to things which we usually regard as being so common.

		<description>ul.slideshow_thumbs{display:none;}
The White Rose movement of WW2 Germany is one of great personal interest to me. A brief was set out to design and manufacture a flag of an organisation/group/movement which lacks one, so this was a perfect opportunity to further historically explore the movement.

In brief, they were an intellectually fuelled, non-violent, anti-Nazi underground student group, who are now recognised as heroes in Germany and beyond. They wrote and printed leaflets which were distributed anonymously throughout their university, to foster an anti-Hitler mentality. They also used graffiti to spread their message.

&#60;img src="http://payload.cargocollective.com/1/0/19504/1860130/intial_flags.jpg" border="0" width="670" height="623" width_o="1711" height_o="1593" src_o="http://payload.cargocollective.com/1/0/19504/1860130/intial_flags_o.jpg" align="left" /&#62;
My initial designs were inspired by the symbol of the rose with hidden elements inside to highlight their anonymity. It was also important and relevant to research other forms of anti-fascist symbology throughout the world. Every single element in the designs serve a purpose and have a reason, until finally it became narrowed down to one design. The peace dove's wing incorporates the three diagonals as a reference to a common way of marking over a swastika to conceal it; and the three hands acting as leaves of the rose, hint towards the religious trio, as a majority of the members were also highly influenced by Christianity.

&#60;img src="http://payload.cargocollective.com/1/0/19504/1860130/01.png" border="0" width="670" height="410" width_o="884" height_o="542" src_o="http://payload.cargocollective.com/1/0/19504/1860130/01_o.png" align="left" /&#62;
For the actual making of the flag, I chose to create a stencil motif. It represents the make-do attitude of the movement; they had to use whatever resources they could get their hands on, and a stencil is also something which could easily be sprayed onto walls with ease and then re-used elsewhere.

&#60;img src="http://payload.cargocollective.com/1/0/19504/1860130/02.jpg" border="0" width="648" height="484" width_o="648" height_o="484" src_o="http://payload.cargocollective.com/1/0/19504/1860130/02_o.jpg" align="left" /&#62; &#60;img src="http://payload.cargocollective.com/1/0/19504/1860130/04.jpg" border="0" width="648" height="484" width_o="648" height_o="484" src_o="http://payload.cargocollective.com/1/0/19504/1860130/04_o.jpg" align="left" /&#62; &#60;img src="http://payload.cargocollective.com/1/0/19504/1860130/03.jpg" border="0" width="648" height="484" width_o="648" height_o="484" src_o="http://payload.cargocollective.com/1/0/19504/1860130/03_o.jpg" align="left" /&#62; &#60;img src="http://payload.cargocollective.com/1/0/19504/1860130/05.jpg" border="0" width="670" height="476" width_o="680" height_o="484" src_o="http://payload.cargocollective.com/1/0/19504/1860130/05_o.jpg" align="left" /&#62;

A moving image piece, commissioned by Harper Collins publishing for James Gleick's recently released enhanced e-book. The concept for this animation piece came from a passage in the The Information, about Charles Babbage and his introduction to the industrialisation age and automata. This video, one of twelve chosen for the project, can be found at the end of this passage in
the e-book.

Captured in Dragon; Edited in Final Cut Pro.Commercial project in collaboration with Cynthia Chen-Barbachano.

A piece of digital design submitted for D&#38;AD's 2011 student open advertising brief; the aim being to foster a long-term relationship between the organisation and the public, rather than just relying on one-off donations. Although understanding that Oxfam fights sincerely against poverty, we wanted to make our app as accessible and approachable as possible by designing themed games, such as rescuing flood victims to safety, which are not only entertaining but also educational and informative.

Slideshow images below are taken directly from the digital A3 boards submitted.

Compiled with InDesign; Drawn in Illustrator.D&#38;AD Student Submission 2011 in collaboration with Cynthia Chen-Barbachano.

An experimental and abstract book celebrating the 26 letters of the alphabet.

The project starts by collecting lettering from anywhere and everywhere - photographing, sketching, clipping...

&#60;img src="http://payload.cargocollective.com/1/0/19504/1840845/collection-01.jpg" border="0" width="442" height="554" width_o="442" height_o="554" src_o="http://payload.cargocollective.com/1/0/19504/1840845/collection-01_o.jpg" align="left" /&#62;

Then from this research stage, the analysing begins along with developing and abstraction of the alphabet. It was interesting to gauge how far to push the forms before they became illegible.

From this, bore the following.
An alphabet book from A-Z.
Spreads alternate between grayscale and colour.
The cover image (which wraps around to the back) combines chopped of elements of a handful of letters from within. (I think it looks a bit like a well-groomed sea monster with a monocle, no?
